Guwahati: Assam State GST Department officials launched an overnight sweep of Bharatiya Jalpan food outlets in Guwahati. They targeted locations in Christian Basti, Fancy Bazar near Railway Gate No. 3, and Kumarpara, along with a production facility in Amingaon. Police backed the GST teams during the operation. They spent hours combing through the Christian Basti location.

The department suspects financial discrepancies in the business accounts over the last five years. Agents seized electronic devices and stacked up boxes of records for a deeper look. Staff stood by as officials collected the paperwork. A representative for the department stated, "The State GST Department is examining the documents, electronic devices and other materials collected during the searches."

Authorities have not pinned down the exact nature of the irregularities yet. The investigation remains active. Investigators are now pouring over the seized files to determine if any tax rules were broken. No final conclusion exists regarding the suspected discrepancies. Officials expect to share more details once they finish the audit.
