Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha says tourism is the engine for future state growth. He wants to boost local livelihoods by fixing infrastructure and pushing heritage sites. The state is currently pouring resources into site renovation and skill training for residents. Saha spoke to reporters after the 138th Mann Ki Baat session at the Baishnabtilla Community Hall in Agartala on Sunday.
BJP MLA Mina Rani Sarkar joined local residents and party leaders for the event. The Chief Minister credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi with bringing national focus to the industry. He noted that temple renovations and site developments are already paying off. "Tourism is one of the fastest-growing sectors," Saha said. Visitor numbers are climbing during festivals and major events. These crowds are fueling local cash flow and infrastructure progress.
Tripura holds the number two spot for GSDP among northeastern states. Saha expects the tourism push to climb that ranking even higher. The government remains locked into a plan to protect heritage assets while opening the state to travelers. He insists these efforts keep money in local pockets while growing the regional economy.
