Agartala: Tripura and Mizoram will hold high-level talks in Agartala during the first week of August 2026. The meeting aims to secure a permanent fix for a border dispute that has dragged on for years. This session follows a positive dialogue between Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha and his Mizoram counterpart at a recent North Eastern Council meeting in Shillong.
Senior administrative and police officials will lead the negotiations. The Tripura delegation features the Home Secretary, Revenue Secretary, the District Magistrate of North Tripura district, and the concerned Superintendent of Police. Mizoram will dispatch its Home Secretary and other top officers to the table.
The talks will target border demarcation, administrative coordination, and law and order. Leaders will also address the specific challenges facing residents in these frontier zones. State officials confirmed that the effort has gained traction under the direct guidance of Chief Minister Saha. Both states maintain that they remain committed to this process. As one official noted, the goal is to resolve the issue through "mutual cooperation, goodwill and dialogue to ensure a peaceful, permanent and acceptable solution."
The meeting is about more than just maps. It aims to accelerate development and strengthen the bond between the two neighbors. Local administrations expect better coordination to follow these discussions.
