Agartala: Tripura and Mizoram will convene a high-level meeting in Agartala during the first week of August 2026. The goal is a permanent resolution to their long-standing inter-state border dispute. Officials hope to finally end decades of uncertainty.
Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha pushed for the talks following a sideline discussion with his Mizoram counterpart at the North Eastern Council meeting in Shillong. The upcoming session aims to build on that momentum. The state government stated the process has gained fresh energy under the leadership of Chief Minister Saha, adding that both sides aim to ensure a "peaceful, permanent and acceptable solution."
Participants from Tripura will include the Home Secretary, Revenue Secretary, the North Tripura District Magistrate, and the local Superintendent of Police. Mizoram will dispatch its Home Secretary alongside other top administrative officers. Both states plan to send senior police and administrative staff to the table.
The agenda covers several contentious points. Officials will hash out border demarcation, law and order, and administrative coordination. They will also address the daily struggles faced by residents living in the border regions. The talks serve to strengthen governance and speed up development in those areas. By fostering cooperation and goodwill, both states hope to finalize a time-bound roadmap for peace.
