Tripura and Mizoram set high-level border talks for August

Agartala: Top officials from Tripura and Mizoram are heading to Agartala in early August 2026. They want to kill a border dispute that has dragged on for years. Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha pushed for this meeting following a talk with his Mizoram counterpart at the North Eastern Council summit in Shillong.

Home Secretaries from both states will sit down with top brass including Tripura's Revenue Secretary, the North Tripura District Magistrate, and local police chiefs. This session marks a clear push for peace. The state government stated, "The border resolution process has gained fresh momentum under the personal initiative and coordinated leadership of Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha."

Talks will cover border demarcation and administrative links. They plan to tackle law and order hurdles plus day-to-day struggles for residents living in the border zones. Everyone wants a permanent fix. Officials hope to swap friction for shared progress and security in the region.
