Guwahati: A 23-year-old suspected member of the United Liberation Front of Asom turned himself in to the Assam Rifles at Pangsau. The man, Dilip Axom, also known as Kamal Sarania, walked away from the insurgency to face authorities. He is the son of Prasanna Sarania and hails from Simla village, located under the Simla Police Station in the Baksa district of Assam.

His move signals a win for security forces fighting regional militancy. Officials did not report any weapons or gear surrendered alongside the man. Security teams will now hold him for questioning and verification. "Following the surrender, further details regarding his alleged association with the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA), his activities and the circumstances that led him to surrender are expected to emerge."

Investigators plan to grill the suspect to better understand his time with the group. More facts will come out soon. The military remains focused on dismantling local insurgent networks.
