Assam Rifles Soldier Killed in Border Ambush

Guwahati: Insurgents ambushed an Assam Rifles patrol team in Arunachal Pradesh early Tuesday morning. The attack occurred at 6.30 am near Nampong Nallah in the Changlang district. Havildar Jankhokai Kuki, 42, died in the gunfire. He was 42.

The soldiers were patrolling near active fencing construction along the India-Myanmar border when militants struck. Officials suspect the NSCN-K-YA, or Yung Aung faction, carried out the hit. Security forces launched a hunt for the shooters immediately. "Following the attack, security forces launched operations in the area to track down those responsible and secure the border region."

Agencies remain on high alert throughout the sector. This area currently sees heavy surveillance and barrier installation to boost defense. Investigators are still working to confirm exact details and tactical circumstances surrounding the violence.
