Itanagar: The NSCN-YA claimed responsibility for an armed attack on a 21 Assam Rifles post in Tikhak Taipi village, near Longvi, within Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district. Gunfire erupted at approximately 3 am on August 14. The exchange lasted 45 minutes.
A unit of the self-styled Naga Army conducted the assault. They retreated as security forces moved in. The military responded with heavy reinforcements and aerial drone surveillance to secure the perimeter. Authorities confirmed the post came under fire, but they reported no official casualties among Assam Rifles personnel.
The militants alleged that security forces suffered losses during the fight. These claims remain unverified as the military locked down the site. The group justified the violence in an official statement, calling it a “direct and necessary action” against the continued, unjust domination of the Naga people.
The faction vowed to keep up its armed operations against Indian forces. They intend to maintain the pressure until they secure their political and territorial goals. Security operations remain ongoing in the district.
