Guwahati: The 20 Assam Rifles caught an active National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Isak-Muivah) cadre during a raid in Ledo. The operation hit the ground on August 28 following intelligence reports of extortion and illegal weapon movement. Troops nabbed the suspect at 6.35 pm.
The prisoner is SS Sergeant Major Yangsin Khocha. He calls Phangsun village in the Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh home, falling under the Namtok police station jurisdiction. Soldiers seized a mobile phone and a carry bag from his possession during the bust.
Preliminary questioning exposed links between Khocha and SS Captain Yumsen Kongkang, a previously captured member of the NSCN (K-YA). This connection signals a unified front between the insurgent groups. Khocha admitted he moved money to higher-ups and funneled extortion proceeds.
The cadre told interrogators that his group planned violent strikes against security forces. He detailed how they slipped weapons into the Changlang area. "Preliminary interrogation reportedly revealed information about the movement of other cadres in the area and their alleged activities targeting security forces," officials stated. Investigators are now vetting his claims to track down the remaining network members.

New reports place the operation in Tinsukia district, specifying the raid officially kicked off at 4 pm on August 28.
