Tinsukia Durga Puja Pandals Recreate Global Landmarks

Guwahati: Tinsukia is pulling out all the stops for Durga Puja this year. Organizers built seven major pandals, each sporting a wildly different theme to draw in the crowds. The local festivities blend religious devotion with ambitious architectural recreations.

Manav Kalyan Shri Marwari Durga Puja brings the spirit of Kashi to Assam. It mimics the iconic Assi Ghat in Varanasi. Nearby, the Sripuria Purvanchal Durga Puja goes for a sentimental angle. Its theme, Lost Childhood, aims to stir up memories of simpler times. Organizers say the goal is to help people reconnect with their early innocence.

Modern global landmarks are also getting a spotlight. The Thanda Ghar Durga Puja highlights Dubai and its urban architecture. Meanwhile, Shah Colony Durga Puja built a structure inspired by the Burj Khalifa. Tinsukia residents get a taste of South India at the Durgabari Durga Puja, which recreates the Ramanathaswamy Temple from Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu.

Traditional heritage remains a massive draw elsewhere. Chaliha Nagar Durga Puja features the royal palace style of Rajasthan. The Makum Road Durga Puja focuses on spirituality. It centers on Maa Baglamukhi to highlight the power of overcoming negativity. These seven sites show just how far local artists went to build this year's displays.
