Agartala: Doctors at Tripura Medical College and Dr BRAM Teaching Hospital pulled a 5-cm stone from a six-year-old boy's bladder. The child, Singrakha Reang from Dhalai district, arrived at the hospital on July 18. He complained of severe abdominal pain and urinary issues.
The surgery took place Thursday. A team led by paediatric surgeon Dr Aniruddha Basak performed an open cystolithotomy to extract the mass. Dr Sankha Subhra assisted in the theatre while Dr Sourav Saha handled the anaesthesia. Scrub sister Bithika Das provided additional support during the procedure.
Hospital officials confirmed the boy is stable and currently under medical observation. "Bladder stones of this size are uncommon in children of this age group," the hospital stated. Staff credited the paediatric surgery team for the successful operation.
