Agartala: Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha kicked off the second phase of the Mukhyamantri Niramay Arogya Abhiyan on July 14 in Gomati district. This health drive runs until July 31. It focuses on preventing, diagnosing, and treating non-communicable diseases statewide.
The state partnered with the StAr-NCD project under the ICMR-National Health Research Priority framework. The program uses a hub-and-spoke model for the new Mukhyamantri Lab Network. Officials also introduced colour-coded cards to help staff manage patient referrals and care. ASHA workers now receive performance-linked incentives to keep patients on their treatment plans.
Saha honored top-performing ASHA workers at the event. He praised their work in ensuring patients stick to their medical schedules. "The initiative represents a major stride in strengthening prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of NCDs across the State."
Gomati and Dhalai districts act as the primary model zones for these new service delivery methods. Experts from AIIMS New Delhi and the Centre for Chronic Disease Control provided technical help for the rollout. The Indian Council of Medical Research supports the project as it moves to scale up health services for the public.
