Guwahati: Rathindranath Saha is turning his anger into a ballot box fight. The long-time BJP worker is running as an Independent in Ward 11 for the first municipal election in Silchar since Independence. He hung a pointed banner outside his house to signal his exit from the fold. The sign reads: "BJP leaders are not allowed to enter my beloved home."
Saha claims the party ignored dedicated members to favor outsiders. He points to former Congress figures like Sushmita Dev and Gautam Roy who now hold sway within the local ranks. The candidate says his family served the BJP for generations, stretching back to his grandfather. He built his own credentials through the RSS and VHP before hitting this wall. He warned that there is now no place for the real BJP in the local setup.
The move marks a sharp break from his roots. He claims the party has drifted from its original mission under the influence of former rivals. Saha intends to prove a point at the polls. "I have staged this protest to teach them a proper lesson," he said. His campaign highlights internal friction as the city heads toward its historic vote.
