Guwahati: Pawan Jain vanished Tuesday afternoon. The 62-year-old businessman left his shop at 1 pm. CCTV showed him riding a bicycle toward his house in Dhakuakhana. He never made it home. His phone went dark.
Family members alerted the Dhakuakhana police station. Officers raided the nearby home of Dhananjay Sahu early Wednesday. They found Jain dead inside a bathroom. His body was stuffed into a plastic bag. It sat only 150 metres from his own front door.
Police arrested Sahu, his wife, and their son. The body now awaits a post-mortem examination. Sahu allegedly pointed the finger at others. He told investigators that Jain was murdered by a man named Raju Sahney from Sivasagar and an unidentified accomplice. A financial grudge sits at the center of the crime. Sahu admitted to a dispute over an unpaid loan. As local residents process the tragedy, the police are pushing forward. A spokesperson noted the severity of the incident, stating, "The incident has sent shockwaves in Dhakuakhana, with residents expressing concern over the security of common people."
