Guwahati: A school teacher allegedly hacked his wife and two children to death with a machete inside their Dhemaji, Assam home on September 2. Police say the violence unfolded that morning. The victims include 33-year-old Chinuara Begum, eight-year-old Shakil Ali, and five-year-old Rijika Begum.
The suspect works as an assistant teacher at Gamchuk Primary School. He also attacked his 13-year-old daughter, who remains in critical condition at a local hospital. Investigators have not confirmed a motive for the killings. An officer stated, "preliminary suspicion points to financial difficulties."
A forensic team scoured the family home for evidence. Police continue to dig into the events leading up to the tragedy.

In an unrelated incident late on September 2, violence broke out at the Gamerimura Police Outpost in Boko, Kamrup district. A policeman identified as Chiranjeev Choudhury allegedly opened fire with an AK-47 rifle on his fellow officers.
The shooting killed Fazrul Ali and the outpost officer-in-charge, Indrajit Bora. Two additional officers sustained bullet wounds during the attack. Authorities are investigating the motive and the exact events behind the shooting.

In a separate bloodletting early Thursday morning, police gunned down two suspected car thieves in Markadola, located in the Kamrup Metropolitan district. Officers tracked a vehicle stolen from Guwahati's Panbazar area, leading to a high speed chase that ended in a shootout. The dead men, identified as Saidul Alam Laskar and Babul Singh, allegedly fired on law enforcement first. Police recovered two pistols and mobile phones from the scene before moving the bodies to Sonapur District Hospital.

The stolen vehicle involved in the Markadola pursuit was a Tata AC with the registration number AS-01-KC-3128. Authorities confirmed the operation targeted an armed criminal gang suspected of running vehicle thefts across the region.

Investigators identified the accused in the Gamerimura shooting as Constable Chiranjib Choudhury, who is attached to the 29th Assam Police Battalion and hails from Dhubri district. The attack took place between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m. at the outpost, which sits on the Assam-Meghalaya border. Fazrul Ali served as a Havildar and resided in Sarboga, while the slain officer-in-charge, Indrajit Bora, was from Changshari.
Police confirmed the Markadola shootout was part of a broader operation targeting an armed vehicle theft ring. Officers recovered additional materials linked to the gang's criminal activity at the scene alongside the previously reported weapons and mobile phones.
