Itanagar: Diyun Police rounded up every suspect involved in the gang rape of a minor girl. The investigation began after the case was reported on August 21, 2026. Inspector Ongsa Ronrang secured medical treatment for the victim immediately after the incident came to light. The police registered the case under sections 137(2) and 70(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and sections 4, 8, and 12 of the POCSO Act.
Officers arrested the prime suspect from Dumpani on August 23. The search intensified after police tracked the remaining suspects to Delhi and Dehradun. The fugitives eventually returned to Arunachal Pradesh to hide in the Deban area. On the night of August 26, Inspector Ronrang led a team including constables Toanpen Afi, Kaku Yomgam, and Pongkat Bo through the region. Miao SDPO Paul Jerang supervised the entire operation.
The search resulted in the apprehension of one child in conflict with the law. Relentless police pressure forced the remaining suspects to turn themselves in at the Miao Police Station. In total, authorities have arrested two adults from Brajapur and Dumpani alongside two juveniles. Diyun Police stated, "Diyun Police said it maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards crimes against women and children and will continue to investigate the case thoroughly." Officials promised an expeditious investigation to secure justice for the victim.
