Guwahati: NTPC Bongaigaon marked the first death anniversary of Assamese music legend Zubeen Garg with a Nahor tree plantation drive. Employees gathered near the Administrative Building to plant saplings as a living tribute. Head of Project Arnab Maitra led the event alongside Head of HR Amit Kumar Asthana, department heads, and staff members.
The tribute continued in the evening at the Community Mandap. Families and children joined employees for a floral ceremony to remember the singer. His music played throughout the night. Attendees shared personal stories about how his songs shaped their lives. Zubeen was more than a celebrated singer. He was a cultural bridge. Maitra honored the artist by stating, "Zubeen was more than a celebrated singer and described him as a voice of Assam who carried the state’s language, emotions and identity to audiences across generations."
The plantation acts as a permanent reminder of the singer. His influence remains deep across the state. The event successfully brought the entire NTPC Bongaigaon community together. They honored a legacy that survives his death.
