Imphal: The Narcotics Control Bureau arrested a Myanmar-based drug kingpin in Manipur’s Churachandpur district. The agency identified the man as Nengzatuan, known as Tuanpi, from Chin State. He led a massive trafficking ring moving heroin and methamphetamine through India and Bangladesh. The bust ends months of intense surveillance and intelligence gathering.
Nengzatuan faces charges in three NCB cases involving 28.22 kg of meth and 1.278 kg of heroin. These drugs hold an estimated value topping 25 crore. Churachandpur Police, Singngat Police, and the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence also have him linked to seven other cases. The agency claims the group's total illicit haul hits 53 crore.
Investigators described the syndicate as a complex machine. It relied on a web of international suppliers, couriers, and financial handlers to move product through Manipur, Mizoram, Assam, and Tripura. The NCB has spent months tearing this operation apart.
Key arrests include Abdullah Ahmed from Silchar, alongside Lalthlamuong Pulamte, Nengultinkhum Hrangngul, and Paominlen Munlo. These men served as local facilitators and transport coordinators. The agency previously grabbed Lalhmingsanga in March 2026 and Thancintuang, also called Tluanga, in May 2026. Officials maintain that this strike hits the heart of the regional drug trade. "The arrest of Nengzatuan follows the earlier arrests of Lalhmingsanga in March 2026 and Thancintuang alias Chintuang alias Tluanga in May 2026," noted the NCB.
