Imphal: Kamjong district officials gathered Friday, August 14, to mark Partition Horrors Remembrance Day. They met inside the Mini Secretariat conference hall. The event honored millions displaced or killed during the 1947 partition of the Indian subcontinent. Deputy Commissioner L.N. Kashung led the ceremony alongside Superintendent of Police Tholu Rocky and Additional Deputy Commissioner H.L. Jain.

Kashung addressed the crowd. He said the day was observed to remember the immense suffering and hardships faced by people during the Partition. Officials observed two minutes of silence for those lost in the violence. The Deputy Commissioner noted the event aims to kill social divisions and boost national unity.

The work did not stop there. Officials traveled to a refugee camp at Huimin Thana near the Myanmar border. Kashung inspected the biometric registration process for people recently arrived from across the border. He was joined by Sub-Deputy Collector Asem Manikanta and District Information Officer Ch. Sunni. The team also checked Border Pillar 99. Authorities continue to watch the border closely as more people move into Manipur from Myanmar.
