Shillong: Meghalaya police busted a major drug haul on National Highway 6. Officers at the Umkiang Police Patrol Post intercepted two vehicles heading toward Silchar, Assam. Inside, they found 2,244 bottles of Vincof-Plus cough syrup stashed in 15 cartons.
The Lumshnong Police Station took the drivers into custody. The suspects are Sanjib Kumar Kanu and Saidul Islam Barbhuya, both from Assam. Lab tests confirmed the syrup contains codeine. Authorities are still working the case, stating, "Further investigation is underway."
