Kohima: Nagaland Lok Sabha MP S Supongmeren Jamir pressed the Centre on Tuesday to overhaul the College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry in Jalukie, Peren. He raised the matter during Zero Hour in Parliament. He wants better facilities for the campus, which is a constituent of the Central Agricultural University in Imphal.
Jamir appealed to the Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying to fund key construction projects. He pushed for a new veterinary clinical complex and better veterinary laboratory diagnostic facilities for faster disease detection. He also wants mobile animal health services and telemedicine to reach more areas.
The MP argued these upgrades are vital. He told the ministry that "investment in veterinary education is important for improving livestock productivity, ensuring food security and creating employment opportunities in the rural economy."
Students travel from across the country to attend this college. Jamir believes stronger infrastructure will turn the institution into a national leader. He asked the government to prioritize these projects to help the rural economy and boost livestock health.
