Kohima: The College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, part of Central Agricultural University in Imphal, hosted an orientation for incoming first-year B.V.Sc. & A.H. students. Held September 7 at the Jalukie campus seminar hall, the event introduced the 2026-27 cohort to college life. First and second-year students joined faculty and staff for the briefing.
Italang Ramlia, a retainer lawyer for PDSLA Peren and an anti-ragging committee member, detailed the legal stakes of campus misconduct. He spelled out clear consequences for bad behavior. Roland Zeliang, president of the Zeliang Students’ Union Nagaland, spoke to the group to share community support.
Department heads covered the technical side of the degree. Dr. Uttarani Maibam reviewed hostel rules, while Dr. Ksh. Mahesh Singh walked students through campus facilities and welfare programs. Dr. W. Ramdas Singh explained the academic regulations students must follow. Dr. Gunjan Das focused on clinical training and internship expectations. He told the room, "professionalism, discipline and ethical conduct" define a successful veterinarian.
Dean Dr. I. Shakuntala welcomed the new batch. She pushed them to use the laboratories, library, and sports facilities effectively. Students must stay active in academics and extracurriculars. She also urged the new class to speak up. "She advised students to approach committees or authorities for grievances and not remain silent." Dr. Kumarasamy P., the chief hostel warden, closed the event with a vote of thanks.
