Kohima: Nagaland wrapped up its statewide cyber safety campaign on Friday. The Nagaland Cyber Tour 2026 hit all 17 districts and reached more than 6,500 people over two phases. MMB Cyber School ran the program alongside Nagaland Police from July 31 through October 23.
Teams visited 50 educational institutions, including 41 schools and nine colleges or universities. They also led five community events. The first phase started at Baptist Higher Secondary School in Tseminyu and finished August 14, covering 12 locations like Tuensang, Noklak, Shamator, Kiphire, Meluri, and Satakha. Phase two launched September 21 at Union Christian School in Pfutsero and ended October 23 at Loyola School in Kohima, hitting 38 more sites in areas such as Phek, Wokha, Mokokchung, Longleng, Mon, Niuland, Dimapur, and Peren.
Sessions warned of phishing, online financial fraud, identity theft, cyberbullying, misinformation, and fake job or scholarship scams. Organizers also addressed digital arrest scams and impersonation. Five community stops took place at the Thang Students' Union Library cum Tuition Centre, the SP Conference Hall in Noklak, the Yimkhiung Tribal Complex in Shamator, a children's home in Satakha, and a stakeholder meeting in Mon for police and civil society.
The effort had backing from Director General of Police Rupin Sharma and Additional Director General of Police Sandeep M Tamgadge. It relied on a simple directive for the public: "THINK. VERIFY. PROTECT." Participants learned how to guard personal data and report crimes. Future plans involve more targeted programs to expand digital literacy across the state.
