Kohima: Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav handed out the Rajya Puraskar, also known as the Governor’s Award, to 58 young Scouts and Guides on August 21. The ceremony took place at Lok Bhavan. It recognized 34 Guides and 24 Scouts for their training and discipline. These students proved their mettle through years of hard work.
The Governor praised the Bharat Scouts and Guides movement as a non-political, educational program. He noted its history in Nagaland since 1967. The movement emphasizes duty to self, others, and God. He told the students to look past screens and learn from nature. He urged them to target the President’s Scout and Guide Certificate Award next. "Leadership begins with service," the Governor said.
True leadership requires action. He pushed the recipients to remain honest and punctual while protecting the environment. He argued that a developed nation needs compassionate citizens, not just technology. The Scouts learn first aid, disaster response, and team skills. These skills serve the state well during emergencies.
Anthony Ngullie, the Commissioner and Secretary of YRS, delivered the keynote address. Thejatsunuu Amelia Sekhose performed a song. K. Neibou Sekhose finished the event with a vote of thanks. The Governor encouraged the association to bring more rural youth into the fold. He reminded parents and schools that building character secures the future.
