Minister Zhimomi inspects flood-ravaged road in Niuland

Kohima: Nagaland PHED and Cooperation Minister Jacob Zhimomi toured a shattered road stretch between Zhekishe and Vikheto villages on Friday. Heavy rains washed away a major portion of the path in the EAC Aghunaqa Circle of Niuland district. The minister walked the site with the Niuland Deputy Commissioner, local administrators, and civil society groups.

This route acts as a vital lifeline for 18 villages and offers essential access to neighboring Assam. It is gone. The collapse stopped commuters, halted goods transport, and blocked school children from reaching class. Economic activity in the region has stalled as a result.

Zhimomi listened to resident complaints during his inspection. He promised to raise the issue with the relevant authorities immediately. The Aghunaqa Kukami Kuqhakulu reached out to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio through the minister, pushing for quick repairs to stop a major tragedy.

The minister finished his tour at the Border Rest House in Aghunaqa headquarters. Troops from the 12th Indian Reserve battalion are stationed there. He met with the jawans to boost morale. Zhimomi told them, "law and order and public security must not be compromised at any cost." He ordered the men to stay sharp and maintain discipline.
