Kohima: Volunteers in Chessore fixed the monsoon-damaged Hukir to Chessore Road on July 28. They also repaired the route from the local high school to the Town junction. It was a long day of labor. The Chessore Town Baptist Church, the Chessore Town Public Forum, and contractors from the Lighthouse NECTAR project led the effort.
Workers arrived early to clear mud and debris. They leveled uneven ground and fixed drainage issues. The team also patched the worst stretches of the road. Lighthouse NECTAR provided the cash, technical expertise, tools, and construction materials. Local volunteers supplied the muscle. The Chessore Town Baptist Church fed the entire crew to keep spirits high.
Organizers praised the selfless nature of the participants. The collaborative work shows that local development succeeds when people act with one purpose.
