Kohima: Volunteers in Chessore fixed the monsoon-damaged Hukir-Chessore road on July 28. They also pushed to finish the Lighthouse NECTAR project in Chessore Town. It was a group effort. The Chessore Town Baptist Church, the Chessore Town Public Forum, and Lighthouse NECTAR contractors handled the work.
Crews started early that morning. They cleared debris, leveled rough patches, fixed drainage, and patched the worst sections of the road. Contractors from Lighthouse NECTAR supplied the cash, technical advice, tools, and materials. Church members and the local forum provided all the physical labor for free.
The Chessore Town Baptist Church fed the entire crew throughout the day. The organizers stated, "True development is achieved when communities stand together with one heart and one purpose." This work helped make travel safer during the wet season.
Beyond the main route, the teams also repaired the road stretch running from the high school to the town junction. Organizers thanked the volunteers and leaders for their time and effort. They believe the project built better bonds and local hope.
