Kohima: Kohima College celebrated its 59th Foundation Day on August 8, 2026. The event honored the institution's history and academic high achievers. Former principal Dr. Watijungshi Jamir attended as the special guest. He reminded attendees that the founders built the college through shared vision and grit. Students received various academic awards, including a Rs. 30,000 top prize for Hengwale Kent.
The North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) took to the streets on August 7. NSS volunteers repaired roads and cleared drains near their campus. They followed the organization's motto, "Not Me But You." This effort promoted manual labor and community responsibility.
Nagaland University (NU) Kohima Campus hosted an international lecture on Tethyan geodynamics on August 6. The session featured experts from AGH University in Poland. They examined geological links between the Alps and the Himalayas. Separately, NU Lumami launched an Artificial Intelligence training program on August 7. Vice Chancellor Prof. J.K. Patnaik urged students to leverage the SWAYAM platform for skill growth.
Jubilee Memorial College held an NSS orientation on August 7. Dr. I. Tovishe Phucho detailed the movement's history and its goal of building student character through service. The college administration encouraged students to look beyond the classroom. They emphasized that real education happens through community involvement.
