Kohima: The All Nagaland College Students' Union (ANCSU) is demanding an immediate review of the 2026 Undergraduate Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP) semester results. Following the release of the scores, the union submitted a formal memorandum to the Vice-Chancellor of Nagaland University. They cite widespread anomalies in the grading process that have sparked fear across the student body.
Students report high-performing individuals failing unexpectedly. Many received single-digit scores, while others faced administrative errors where History minors were mislabeled as Education, causing unnecessary backlogs. The union leadership, including president Kivika Yeptho and general secretary Sotilo, expressed "deep anguish" regarding the situation. They labeled the university's handling of the results as "unprofessional and insincere."
The current system is broken. Students cannot seek help. The university currently bars re-evaluation for anyone who scored below 20 percent of the total marks. This rule traps students who may have been victims of simple tabulation errors. ANCSU wants this policy scrapped. They are pushing for all students to have the right to request a review, provided they have a recommendation from their college principal.
Financial exploitation is also a major concern. Nagaland University set the official re-evaluation fee at Rs 450 per paper. However, the union claims several affiliated colleges are charging much higher amounts. These institutions are tacking on unauthorized travel allowances and incidental fees. ANCSU warned colleges to stop these collections immediately. They expect the university to ensure that all re-evaluations wrap up quickly to prevent further academic delays.
