Naga Community Threatens Protest Over Unsolved Murder Case

Imphal: Six Liangmai Naga bodies sat in the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences mortuary for 100 days. The community reached their limit. Villagers from Konsakhul gathered at the mortuary complex for a prayer meeting and protest to demand real answers. They have warned that if justice stays stuck, they will bring the corpses directly to the Chief Minister's residence.

Authorities have only locked up four people for the kidnapping and murder so far. A couple went into custody on July 10. Police later picked up Lungoulal Vaiphei and Lunminthang Sitlhou, also known as Jack, on July 18. The arrests brought little relief to the grieving families.

Konsakhul village chairman D. Adam Liangmai dismissed the suspects currently in custody. He believes the real killers remain free while investigators chase dead ends. He told the crowd that the people arrested so far are nothing but "pawns" of the criminals. The community continues to wait for the masterminds to face charges.
