Shillong: The Jaintia Photo and Video Fest closed Friday at the Chutwakhu Indoor Hall in Jowai. The three-day event celebrated the first anniversary of the Jaintia Photographers and Videographers Association. It started August 19.
Cabinet Minister and local MLA Wailadmiki Shylla served as chief guest. Khliehriat MLA Kyrmen Shylla joined as the guest of honour. The Photography Club Dimapur and various local students participated in the proceedings.
JPVA president Jomanson N. Passah recapped the group's work since its August 21, 2025, formation. Vice president Ruhipaia Phawa explained the association's mission. They want to document the current generation and protect the natural heritage of the Jaintia Hills. "The JPVA aims to document the legacy of the current generation and promote the natural heritage of the Jaintia Hills," Phawa stated.
Shylla praised the initiative. He said these efforts help youth see camera work as a real career. He pushed members to master new technology and train others. The minister suggested the association seek government help through programs like Skill Meghalaya, Hello Meghalaya, and PRIME.
