Aizawl: The Mizoram government and the Central Committee of the Young Mizo Association signed an agreement on Tuesday to bolster tourism. Officials confirmed the deal in Aizawl on Wednesday, August 12. Tourism Secretary Vanlaldina Fanai and CYMA president R Lalngheta attended the signing ceremony.

Tourist arrivals in the state are up. Tourism Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar expects the department to become a major revenue generator soon. The government is pouring resources into infrastructure. It also needs to improve human resources to keep growth sustainable.

The minister explained the move toward collaboration. "With tourist numbers rising, the department alone cannot handle all aspects of the sector. It is therefore important to collaborate with organisations such as the CYMA," Hmar said.

The memorandum of understanding formalizes this partnership. It aligns state initiatives with the civil society group. President R Lalngheta promised the government his organization's full support. They aim to strengthen coordination across the state and drive long-term progress.
