Third Mizoram Finance Commission Starts Work in Aizawl

Aizawl: The third Mizoram State Finance Commission launched operations on September 23. Chairman Lalnuntluangi Tochhawng and member Vanlalnghaka officially took their seats. The state government confirmed the appointments via a September 10 notification.

The commission faces a tight deadline. They must deliver a final report to the government by February 28, 2027. Work is underway at the Office of the Chief Controller of Accounts within the Mizoram New Capital Complex in Aizawl.

Tochhawng brings heavy experience to the table. As a 1984-batch Indian Civil Accounts Service officer, she served as Finance Commissioner and Principal Secretary for the state from 2012 to 2017. Her colleague Vanlalnghaka also holds a deep background in state finances. A 1982-batch Mizoram Finance and Accounts Service veteran, he retired in 2012 after working as the Secretary of the Finance Department. Officials noted, "The third Mizoram State Finance Commission began functioning on September 23 with Chairman Lalnuntluangi Tochhawng and member Vanlalnghaka assuming office."
