Imphal: Manipur Police opened a case after thieves cleared out Pastor Manu Thiumai’s home and the Hope International Institute. The raid happened on July 5, 2026, in Leimakhong Chingmang, Imphal West. Total losses sit at Rs 14.12 lakh.
Paisho Thiumai, 33, from Konsakhul village filed the report. He claims unidentified intruders, possibly from the Kuki community, hit the sites. The stolen haul includes 30 computer sets, a generator, washing machines, a refrigerator, printers, an RO filter, and an inverter with batteries. The school and home sat empty since May 13, 2026. Occupants fled after 18 Naga civilians were abducted in Leilon Vaiphei. Pastor Manu was among the kidnapped victims. His body turned up on June 10, 2026.
The school sits near heavy military and police presence. It is 150 metres from the Army Headquarters, specifically the 57 Mountain Division, also known as the Red Shield Division. It is only 500 metres from the Leimakhong Police Station. Paisho Thiumai raised concerns about how this happened under the nose of security forces. He said, "The complainant has urged an official inquiry into alleged negligence or surveillance failures by local authorities in preventing the theft."
