Imphal: Manipur Police hauled in a trio of suspects during operations across the state on July 23. Officers detained a proclaimed offender sought by the Central Bureau of Investigation and cuffed two active militants tied to insurgent groups. The agency made the arrests as part of a push against state-wide lawlessness.
Police caught T.H. Kaoni, a man wanted by the CBI Patna unit. He spent time dodging his day in court. A Non-Bailable Warrant hung over his head after the Special Judicial Magistrate in Patna flagged him for evading trial. Authorities charge-sheeted Kaoni under the Indian Penal Code for the alleged use of fake legal papers. "Manipur Police said T.H. Kaoni, a proclaimed offender wanted by the CBI's Patna unit, was detained at the request of the central agency and later handed over to the CBI's Anti-Corruption Branch, Imphal."
Security forces also struck in Molnom. They grabbed S. Palal Kuki, also known as Lalboi Singson, who held the title of Finance Head for the United Kuki National Army. He faces heat for his alleged role in multiple firing incidents and extortion rackets. The net tightened further in Imphal East.
Police arrested 37-year-old Gurumayum Khugamani Sharma, also known as Nanao or Bamon, on Wangkhei Ayangpali Road. Officers pulled the Kangleipak Communist Party cadre from the Porompat Police Station jurisdiction. He remains in custody for alleged extortion. Investigators continue to process all three cases.
