Imphal: A Manipur court convicted 58-year-old Md. Abdul Halim on Tuesday for the 2013 murder of his wife. He killed her at their rented home in Golapati Maning Leikai Tangki Makhong. The long legal battle ended after final arguments on June 24.

The victim’s son filed the initial police complaint on June 14, 2013. Records show Halim stabbed his wife with a knife around 5:40 pm. Neighbors rushed the woman to Public Hospital in Hatta. She died shortly after arriving at the clinic.

Halim fled to a neighbor's house to hide. Police arrested him at 7 pm that same night. Inspector Kishore Kumar Salam led the investigation and submitted the chargesheet. The court reviewed 15 witnesses, 21 documentary exhibits, and eight items found at the scene. Halim took the stand as the only defense witness.

The judge found Halim guilty under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code. The court issued a fresh arrest warrant for the man. The Officer-in-Charge of Porompat Police Station must now produce the convict for sentencing. This verdict closes a case that has lasted over a decade. As the court records confirm, the "judgment was delivered after final arguments were heard on June 24."
