Shillong: Senior MDA-II leader Ampareen Lyngdoh fired a warning shot at the Voice of the People Party on Saturday. She called their recent criticism a double-edged sword. The VPP recently demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET-UG controversy. They also attacked the Meghalaya government for staying quiet on the issue.
Lyngdoh dismissed the opposition rhetoric. She said the Centre already enforces accountability, which makes the VPP narrative look foolish. She expects the party to eventually face their own boomerang effect if they ever hold real power. Lyngdoh argued that all governments hit snags during their time in office.
She took a sharp jab at the party's work inside the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council. She claimed they are already failing to manage their existing mandates. She told the opposition to look in the mirror first. "Before pointing fingers at the Central government, the opposition should first examine whether it is effectively discharging the responsibilities entrusted to it in the institutions where it has been given a mandate," Lyngdoh said.
The MDA-II advisor demanded consistency. She wants accountability to remain the top priority for every political player in the state. Whether in the treasury or the opposition benches, everyone must do the job they were hired to do.
