Shillong: A Bolero truck driver struck a scooter head-on in Mawlai on Sunday night and sped away. The hit-and-run happened at 11:22 pm near the entrance to Mawlai Nongpdeng and the Bah Standling Bridge.
CCTV footage captured the chaotic scene. The truck moved from the Mawlai Bridge side while driving on the wrong side of the road. It slammed into the scooter, which was traveling correctly from the Lad Ieweynghep side. The force of the impact threw the rider toward the roadside.
Witnesses moved quickly. Occupants of two nearby vehicles stopped to help the injured rider. The truck driver chose differently. According to the report, the "Bolero truck sped away immediately after the collision." Police continue to examine the footage to track down the vehicle.
