Kohima: Lions Club of Dimapur Elite sent 13 cataract patients to the Jorhat Lions Eye Centre in Assam for surgery on October 9. This medical push serves as the centerpiece of Vision Week, a ten-day event running from October 8 to 18. The club aims to restore sight and cut down on preventable blindness for locals in need.
Beyond the clinic, the organization pivoted to the arts. More than 40 students from 14 schools gathered at the Lions Club Hall in Midland on October 10. They competed in the International Peace Poster Competition under the theme, "Harmony in Humanity."
The selection process moved through two distinct rounds. Artist Yanger and Little Star Higher Secondary School teacher Debika Bhattacharjee reviewed over 50 submissions. They narrowed the field to seven finalists. Kolkata-based art consultant Shweti Jain picked the final winners.
Hardik Kheani from Chitrakala School of Fine Art took home first place. Subhajit Debnath and Smiti Debnath rounded out the top three spots. Club president Basu Damani led the event alongside chairman Pratik Dutta, while Abhishek Kumar Atal and Rishab Chhabra served as co-chairpersons.
