Lions Club of Dimapur Japfu Marks Independence Day With Charity Drive

Kohima: The Lions Club of Dimapur Japfu honored Independence Day on August 15 with a mix of patriotic ceremony and community outreach. District Governor Dr. Neena Dutta attended the event, which featured the national flag, the anthem, and speeches focusing on the legacy of freedom fighters. Members pledged to maintain integrity in their ongoing service work.

The group moved from the ceremony to the Mother Teresa Charity Home. This facility provides housing and care for the elderly. Club members delivered bags of rice, dal, potatoes, salt, cooking oil, biscuits, and pickle to bolster the home's pantry. It was a day of action. Club president Chibeni Ngullie stated, "the visit was not merely an act of charity but also a reaffirmation of the club's mission to extend compassion and assistance to those in need."

The Rotary Club of Dimapur also marked the holiday under president Pradeep Goel. After hoisting the national flag and holding a fellowship breakfast at the Rotary Centre, members partnered with Inner Wheel Dimapur, Agarwal Samaj, and Agarwal Yuva Manch to visit Prodigal's Home. The visit followed directives from the Dimapur District Administration.

Led by chairperson Manish Jain and project chairman Amit Jain, the club launched Project Aahaar. The team delivered tea leaves, milk packets, and noodles alongside standard grocery supplies. Beyond the donations, members spent time talking with residents, framing the outreach as an exercise in human connection and the Rotary principle of Service Above Self.
