NEZCC Hosts Rhythms of Freedom Concert to Aid Disaster Victims

Kohima: The North East Zone Cultural Centre held the Rhythms of Freedom concert in Dimapur on August 15. The event took place at the Stone Sculpture Garden Amphitheatre. It marked India’s 80th Independence Day under the Har Ghar Tiranga theme. The goal was to support families hit by natural disasters across Nagaland.

Hoiying Walim kicked off the show with Vande Mataram. Performers from Musik-A School followed with the National Anthem. NEZCC Director Alobo Naga welcomed the crowd. He stated that the event focused on "people, compassion, community and building connections."

Cultural troupes from the Dimasa Union, Marwari Samaj, Muslim Council, Punjabi Samaj, Bhojpuri Samaj, Nepali Samaj, Gorkha Union, Bengali Samaj, and Tibetan and Bhutia Welfare Association filled the stage. Music acts included Kivika Achumi, Kekhrie Ringa, Lenen Jamir, Hentok Konyak, Sunep Lemtur, 5 Minutes Band, and Colored Keys. The Cantamus Choir, Nise Meruno, Tetso College Choir, and Abdon Mech provided the closing performances. Tovika and Hikali Achumi served as anchors.

Vihuli Zhimomi, a member of the NEZCC Board of Governors, also opened the Children’s Park to the public. Community leaders, officials, and residents attended the event. The concert proved that cultural expression creates solidarity during difficult times.
