Lions Club of Dimapur Elite Donates Canes for Vision Week

Kohima: The Lions Club of Dimapur Elite, District 322-D, handed out 15 white canes to visually impaired people this week. Club president Lion Ritika Jain led the effort. They moved through Mother Teresa Old Age Home and Pordigal Orphanage to get the gear into the right hands.

This drive coincides with Vision Week, running from October 8 to 18. It marks International White Cane Safety Day. The canes went to a mix of elderly men, young adults, and children. The club wants to boost mobility, independence, and dignity for these residents.

The group views the tool as a vital aid for getting around. According to the club, the initiative "reaffirmed its commitment to inclusion, accessibility and community service while highlighting the need to empower persons with visual impairment to lead more independent and confident lives." This project remains part of their broader push to support the rights and needs of the visually impaired.
