Kohima: Lions Club of Dimapur Elite ran a massive service push for Vision Week from October 8 to 18. Club president Ritika Jain and secretary Sakshi Jain Binaykia led the effort. They targeted eye health and blindness prevention. The group hit five Dimapur locations, including City Tower, New Market, and Jain Temple Road. Volunteers handed out 700 pamphlets to students, police, and shopkeepers to push early detection.
Neeta Agarwal coordinated the awareness mission. The team sponsored cataract surgeries for 13 Dimapur patients at the Jorhat Lions Eye Centre in Assam. At Jain School, members screened 320 students between classes III and V. They found 58 kids needing further care and issued referral notes. The club also gathered 77 pairs of used spectacles, handing 50 to the Lions Eye Centre and 27 to the Mother Teresa Orphanage.
Volunteers planted 50 saplings in Marwari Patti to boost air quality. They tied the effort to a clear vision slogan, "Plant a tree today for a greener tomorrow and a clearer vision for generations to come." Seniors also attended a session on the importance of eye donation. To mark International White Cane Safety Day, the club gave 15 white canes to visually impaired residents at Mother Teresa Old Age Home and Pordigal Orphanage.
