Kohima: Lions Club of Dimapur Elite cleared out piles of hazardous junk. The group ran a massive e-waste collection drive on September 30, 2026. Residents hauled in washing machines, laptops, geysers, and treadmills. The pile included old irons, induction stoves, note counters, keyboards, monitors, phone chargers, and loose wires.
Volunteers moved everything to E Circle Association for proper recycling. The club wanted the town to clean up its act. They pushed to stop people from dumping electronics in the trash. Punam Jain, the project chairperson, said the group organized the effort to create a safer space for everyone.
"The project aimed to contribute towards building a cleaner and healthier environment," Jain stated. The drive served to show the community how to handle waste responsibly. It kept dangerous materials out of the ground.
