Konyak Students Union Demands Emergency Relief for Flood-Stricken Students

Kohima: The Konyak Students Union is pushing for emergency financial help to support 664 students in Mon district. Recent floods and landslides wiped out their textbooks, notebooks, and uniforms. The union delivered a formal request to the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority chairman via the Mon deputy commissioner.

KSU president Temwang and general secretary A. Pangnan highlighted the severe educational hardship. While the state provided some household relief, student needs remain unmet. "The disaster had caused serious educational hardship," the leaders noted in their representation. The situation is dire.

Four private and two government schools were wrecked by shifting earth, leaving 319 students without a place to learn. Classes resumed after the summer break, but these pupils cannot participate without basic supplies. The union demands immediate funds for materials and temporary school arrangements to keep students from dropping out.
