Kohima: The Jemtimenba Mollier Foundation held its 12th annual Meritorious Award Ceremony on Saturday. The event took place at the Sangtemla Ward Multipurpose Hall in Mokokchung. Organizers recognized five students for top-tier performance in Ao literature across various 2026 examinations.
Award winners included Imnokila Mollier, who hit 97 in the HSLC exam, and Sungjemtula, who scored 96 in the HSSLC exam. Kilangnukshi received an award for reaching 66.3 percent in the AT Diploma Tenren exam, while Alisenla Ozukum earned 81.1 percent in the AT Post Graduate Diploma Tenren exam. Temjenmenla Pongen took the honors for college-level subject topper at FAC with a score of 82.5 percent. Each winner walked away with a cash prize and a certificate.
I Zulu Imsong, chairman of the Chuchuyimpang Village Council, attended as the guest of honor. He praised the foundation for its decade of work. Imsong noted that nearly 40 percent of the Ao language consists of agricultural terms. He urged the community to keep traditional farming practices alive to ensure the language survives. Imsong stated, "While financial assistance could be provided by anyone, the vision behind the foundation was what would leave a lasting legacy."
Established in 2014, the foundation uses seminars, quizzes, and spelling bees to promote the language. The ceremony featured a welcome address from JMF president Dr. Tali Imsong and a performance by the group Lenjeter. Asapokla chaired the proceedings.
