Barpeta District Honors Retired Teachers for Decades of Service

Guwahati: Barpeta district officials recognized the area's oldest retired primary school teachers on September 5. The ceremony took place inside the Conference Hall at the District Commissioner’s office. These educators received honors through the Governor Assam Varishtha Sikshak Samman, 2026, marking their decades of work in local classrooms.

District Commissioner Nabadeep Pathak presented the top honor to Bhabananda Bharali, the most senior retired primary teacher in the district, acting on behalf of the Governor. Four other educators earned recognition at the block level: Abdus Salam from Mandia, Dipcharan Roy from Bhawanipur, Radhika Mohan Nath from Rupshi, and Gopal Chandra Talukdar from Barpeta.

Pathak praised the group for their influence on the local community. He noted, "Their dedication, commitment and selfless service deserved recognition and could inspire the younger generation of educators."

The event drew a crowd of local leaders. Additional District Commissioner Pranjal Pratim Konwar and Inspector of Schools Bitopan Hazarika joined other district staff to observe the proceedings.
