Guwahati: Assam Agricultural University clinched the 2024-25 State NSS Award for Best University. The honors highlight the school's impact on community service and social welfare. Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Biswajit Daimari handed over the prize at the Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah Complex in Guwahati. The ceremony took place on September 3, coinciding with State Sports Day.

Dr. Binoy Kumar Medhi accepted the award for the university. Medhi runs the NSS Cell as the Director of Students' Welfare. His oversight expanded local volunteer programs. Volunteers now tackle environmental projects and nation-building tasks with regularity.

Ayushman Boruah also took home hardware. A fourth-year student at the College of Agriculture in Jorhat, Boruah earned the State NSS Award for his personal leadership as a volunteer. The university credited the wins to the hard work of its entire team. University officials stated, "The two awards reflected the collective efforts of its NSS fraternity and the coordination of the NSS Cell." These wins aim to push more students toward future community service projects.
