Jalukie Youth Group Demands Action After Turf Ground Vandalism

Kohima: Vandalism has ruined parts of the New Market Turf Ground in Jalukie. Members of the Jalukie Valley Youth Organisation inspected the site on November 7 and found burnt synthetic turf and broken chain-linked fencing. Drivers have been taking vehicles directly onto the field. Others use the facility for parties and social gatherings.

The JVYO serves as the designated caretaker for the site. They are hunting for those responsible. An internal investigation is active now. The organization warned that anyone caught will face consequences. They stated: "An investigation is currently underway to identify those responsible for damaging and misusing this public property."

Construction at the site has sat idle for years. It remains the only standard-sized synthetic football pitch in the Peren District. The group wants the government to finish the work immediately. They believe local athletes need this ground to build skills and pursue sports excellence.

The JVYO called on all citizens to watch the facility. They want people to report unauthorized use or damage to the authorities. Anyone caught breaking the rules will face legal action.
