Assam Minister Threatens Contractor Over Delayed Margherita Stadium

Guwahati: Assam Minister Rameswar Teli inspected the Borgolai mini stadium site on Wednesday evening. He slammed the slow progress on the 12.38 crore rupee project. The facility sits in the 83rd Margherita Legislative Assembly constituency. It is a key piece of the Dehing Patkai Sports Project, managed by the Public Works Department.

Teli demanded faster work. He noted that other stadium projects in the Tinsukia district finished months ago while this one sits idle. The minister held a tense meeting with officials and the contractor to discuss the missed deadlines. He warned that further negligence would carry heavy costs. "Negligence or further delay would not be tolerated," Teli said.

The government expects the site to eventually house local athletes and sports fans. Teli left clear orders to finish the construction as soon as possible. He threatened formal action if the contractor fails to deliver on the revised timeline.
